Students in Years 9 and 10 study the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Religious Education, whilst developing breadth in their learning by choosing from a variety of elective based subjects.
Students in Year 10 who meet the criteria for advancement can accelerate their learning by accessing a VCE or VET Unit 1/2 Subject/s in their elective program.
Students in Years 11 and 12 are offered a full range of options including VCE, VCAL and Australian School Based Apprenticeships.
Emmanuel students have consistently achieved excellent academic results and excellent outcomes. Every student is encouraged to achieve to his or her full potential.
Students with a talent in a particular area of study have the opportunity to work at a higher level but we believe it is important that they stay within their social infrastructure and are not isolated from their peers - extension within the classroom is the best option.
Along with extension in the classroom there are many opportunities for those students requiring extension or enrichment challenges and initiatives ranging from receiving coaching in public speaking to joining a team in designing or building a machine for a University of Melbourne Engineering competition. There are approximately 200 extra curricular opportunities offered to each student at Emmanuel every year.
Students who need help in an area of study may take units that allow extra time for consolidation at a less advanced level. Programs such as corrective reading and bridging mathematics cater for students who need extra assistance in these areas. Students are also offered assistance through after school programs.
